Peripheral neuropathy associated with sicca syndrome.

چکیده
our review of apraxia following deep cerebral lesion and we acknowledge their priority in the investigation of this subject. We are not certain, however, that the evidence they have presented in support of the deep nuclei involvement in limb apraxia is compelling. Most of their patients scored 15 out of 20 on the imitation test, which is just two points below the cut-off score reported by De Renzi, et al' (Agostoni et al did not have a control group). One wonders whether such a marginal deficit on a single test deserves the label of apraxia, all the more so as of the seven patients they report, three had damage to the right brain, an amazingly high proportion for a symptom that is classically associated with left hemisphere disease.

Peripheral neuropathy associated with the sicca syndrome.
Three patients with the sicca syndrome and chronic sensory neuropathy are described; in two of them neuropathy was the presenting feature of the disease. The sicca syndrome can give rise to a characteristic neurological syndrome comprising areflexia and asymmetrical sensory loss, particularly of proprioception, in the limbs. This is often associated with tonic pupils and trigeminal anaesthesia.

Treatment response to interferon alfa (IFNalpha) is described in three consecutive cases of two forms of Sjogren's syndrome associated neuropathy (SSN)-two with sensory ataxic ganglionopathy and one with sensorimotor neuropathy with demyelinating features. All responded well to IFNalpha in terms of neuropathic symptoms, sicca symptoms, antibody titres, and findings in salivary gland biopsy spec...

Primary Sjögren's Syndrome (pSjS) is an autoimmune disease characterized by sicca (xerophthalmia or xerostomia) symptoms, anti-SS-A (Ro) or anti-SS-B (La) autoantibodies, and lymphocytic infiltrates in the exocrine glands. Disease incidence is estimated to be 0.1-3% of the general population with 0.4-3.1 million individuals in the US with women being nine times more likely to be afflicted with ...
متن کاملPure sensory neuropathy in patients with primary Sjögren's syndrome: clinical, immunological, and electromyographic findings.
A pure sensory neuropathy caused by lymphocytic infiltration of the dorsal root ganglia has been reported in a few patients with Sjögren's syndrome. The clinical, immunological, and electromyographic findings of five patients with this type of neuropathy and primary Sjögren's syndrome were reviewed. Typical clinical indications were the presence of a chronic asymmetrical sensory deficit, initia...
